Animal Kingdom Lodge: Jambo House vs. Kidani Village
Compare Jambo House and Kidani Village by room type, dining, pools, savanna access, transportation, and walking distance before choosing a building.
Choose Jambo House for the landmark lobby, traditional hotel rooms, and the resort’s broadest dining selection. Choose Kidani Village for Disney Vacation Club villa layouts, Sanaa, and its separate pool complex. The “better” building depends on what should be nearest to the room.
Choose Jambo House when dining and atmosphere lead
Jambo’s lobby is the visual center many guests picture when they hear Animal Kingdom Lodge. Boma, Jiko, The Mara, lounges, public overlooks, and the Uzima recreation area are centered here. Traditional hotel rooms make Jambo the simpler option for couples or small families who do not need a villa kitchen.
The building is still large. Rooms near the outer ends of a trail can require a long walk to the lobby and bus stop. Ask for “near lobby” or “near transportation” when that outcome matters more than a named savanna.
Choose Kidani when the room itself must work harder
Kidani’s studios and one-, two-, and three-bedroom villas can add kitchen, laundry, living space, and larger sleeping capacity depending on category. That can matter more than lobby grandeur on a multigenerational trip or a stay with several resort meals prepared in the room.
Kidani contains Sanaa and its own pool area. It does not contain Jambo’s full dining lineup. The building is long, so a room far from the lobby can add significant walking.
Savanna view does not decide the building
Both buildings can provide animal-viewing experiences. A savanna-view booking guarantees a view category—not a specific animal, uninterrupted activity, or perfect angle. Public overlooks allow guests in non-savanna rooms to spend time watching animals.
Use the savanna-view value guide before paying the rate difference. The stronger building choice is often more important than the room view.
Moving between Jambo and Kidani
Treat the buildings as neighboring resorts, not adjacent hotel wings. Disney’s transportation options and walking conditions can change, so verify the current inter-building method at check-in. Allow meaningful door-to-door time for a meal in the other building, especially with children or mobility constraints.

Dining decision
Choose Jambo when multiple Boma, Jiko, or quick-service visits are part of the stay. Choose Kidani when Sanaa and in-room food preparation are enough. Menus and meal periods change, so use the Animal Kingdom Lodge dining guide for current location logic and official menu links.
Our recommendation by trip type
- First stay, standard hotel room: start with Jambo.
- Family needing a kitchen or separate bedrooms: start with Kidani villa inventory.
- Resort-heavy dining trip: Jambo reduces repeated transfers.
- Quiet villa stay with Sanaa as the anchor: Kidani.
- Park-heavy trip: choose the lower rate or shorter walk; the room view may receive little use.
The broader Animal Kingdom Lodge review covers whether the resort—and a savanna room—fits the trip at all.
